Ridgeland, Mississippi: There's No Place Like Home

Welcome to the City of Ridgeland, a community that is fast becoming Mississippi's first choice to visit, locate a business or raise a family.

Our city's rich history echoes down the centuries old Natchez Trace, the original overland route between Natchez and Nashville. First traveled by Indians, and later by frontiers tradesmen, this historic byway weaves through the heart of Ridgeland.

Our city was incorporated as the Village of Ridgeland in 1899 by the Highland Colony Company, a northern land development group.

Once know as an agricultural, rural area, Ridgeland was the center of the fruit and vegetable market of the lower Mississippi Valley and was best known for its peaches and pecan orchards.

Ridgeland, minutes away by interstate from Jackson, the State Capitol, is South Madison County's gateway to commerce and recreation in the region. The largest and most commercially successful city in the county, Ridgeland has experienced unprecedented growth over the past 10 years, about doubling in population and seeing commerce abound within its borders.

Ridgeland is a city for business desiring proximity to a major metropolitan area, a dedicated work force and low taxes. Ridgeland is a city of choice for visitors seeking the best hospitality amenities, from our premier shopping destinations to our fine dining restaurants and beautiful appointed hotels and motels, all conveniently located throughout our city. Ridgeland is also home to people who desire good schools, quality health care, safe neighborhoods and sound government.

In Ridgeland, the honesty and fairness and plain good business sense that were hallmarks of our city a century ago are still true today.

We think we’ve found the magic formula when we blended quality of life, community pride, a sense of history, commitment and teamwork and small town charm.

In Ridgeland, we believe the grass is greener, the sunsets more beautiful and life is good. There’s no place like home, There’s no home like Ridgeland.
